HERIS’S APARTMENT location:
Places to visit near the accommodation
HERIS’S APARTMENT is located on Bulevardi Bajram Curi, in the Agimi area of central Tirana, near Ami Event. The address places visitors close to several of the capital’s principal urban, cultural, and recreational areas, particularly the Blloku district and the southern side of the city centre.
- Blloku is one of the most accessible areas from the apartment. Once a restricted residential quarter during Albania’s communist period, it is now known for its cafés, restaurants, bars, shops, and lively streets. Visitors can also see the former residence associated with Enver Hoxha, although the building is not generally presented as a standard public museum.
- Postbllok – Checkpoint is a public memorial on Boulevard Dëshmorët e Kombit, near the southern edge of Blloku. It incorporates concrete bunker segments, a section of the Berlin Wall, and concrete supports from the Spaç prison camp. The installation reflects Albania’s communist past and the experiences of political persecution.
- Grand Park of Tirana extends south of the central districts and provides walking routes, planted areas, open spaces, and access to the city’s artificial lake. The park also contains memorials and recreational facilities. It is one of the main places in Tirana for outdoor walks away from the denser central streets.
- The Artificial Lake of Tirana, within the Grand Park, is a central recreational feature with paths around the water and areas used for walking and informal leisure. The lakeside is also close to cafés, sports facilities, and other park amenities.
- The Pyramid of Tirana stands on Boulevard Dëshmorët e Kombit, north of the park and near the Lana River. Originally opened as a museum dedicated to Enver Hoxha, the structure has since been redeveloped as a public cultural and educational venue. Its distinctive concrete form remains one of the city’s best-known landmarks.
- Skanderbeg Square forms the historic and civic centre of Tirana. The square is surrounded by the National History Museum, Et’hem Bey Mosque, the Clock Tower, the Palace of Culture, and other important institutions. Its open pedestrian area provides access to several of the city’s principal landmarks in one location.
The apartment’s position on a major boulevard also places it near the Lana River, whose landscaped banks and bridges run through central Tirana. The riverside route connects the Agimi area with Blloku, the city centre, and other central neighbourhoods.
