Cozy apartment in the heart of Tirana is located on Rruga Maliq Muço, in the central area of Albania’s capital. Its position places visitors close to Tirana’s principal civic square, religious monuments, museums, pedestrian streets, and traditional market district. Many of the city’s central attractions can be visited on foot from the apartment.
Skanderbeg Square is the main public space in Tirana and a useful starting point for exploring the city centre. The large square is surrounded by important cultural and administrative buildings, including the National History Museum, the Palace of Culture, the National Bank of Albania, and the Et’hem Bey Mosque. Its central statue depicts Skanderbeg, the Albanian national hero.
On the eastern side of the square, the Et’hem Bey Mosque is one of Tirana’s best-known historic buildings. The mosque is noted for its painted interior decoration and detailed exterior architecture. Beside it stands the Clock Tower of Tirana, an established city landmark that provides a prominent reference point in the centre.
The National History Museum presents Albania’s history through archaeological, historical, and artistic collections. Its exterior is recognised by the large mosaic on the main façade, which portrays figures and events associated with the country’s past. Visitors interested in the capital’s twentieth-century history can also visit the House of Leaves, a museum dedicated to the former state surveillance system and its impact on Albanian society.
Bunk’Art 2, located near Skanderbeg Square, occupies an underground anti-nuclear bunker in the centre of Tirana. Its exhibitions examine the history of Albania’s communist-era security structures and political persecution. The museum offers a more focused account of the country’s recent past than the broader collections found at the National History Museum.
South of the square, the Tirana Castle area incorporates surviving sections of the historic fortress walls within a pedestrian urban complex. The site now contains cafés, restaurants, shops, and spaces displaying local food and crafts. It provides an accessible way to see traces of Tirana’s earlier fortified settlement while remaining within the central city.
Further east, the New Bazaar is a renovated market district centred on Pazari i Ri. It includes produce stalls, food businesses, restaurants, and small shops, making it a relevant place for visitors seeking everyday local products and Albanian cuisine. The district connects the central landmarks with the older neighbourhoods east of the city centre.
