Places to visit near the accommodation
Apartaments Elios Tirana is located on Rruga Çerçiz Topulli, in the central part of Tirana and close to the Blloku area. The surrounding streets combine residential buildings, cafés, restaurants, small shops, and several of the capital’s principal cultural and public spaces. Many central attractions can be reached on foot from the accommodation.
Blloku is one of the most convenient places to explore near the apartments. During Albania’s communist period, this district was associated with the country’s political leadership and was not generally accessible to the public. Today, it is known for its dense collection of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, boutiques, and galleries. Visitors can walk along streets such as Rruga Ismail Qemali and Rruga Abdyl Frashëri to experience the area’s contemporary urban character.
Rinia Park lies between the Blloku district and central Tirana. This public green space includes paths, lawns, mature trees, and the Taiwan complex, which contains cafés and restaurants. The park provides an open area in the middle of the city and connects naturally with the main central boulevards.
The Pyramid of Tirana is a distinctive concrete building near the southern side of the city centre. It was originally constructed in the 1980s as a museum dedicated to Enver Hoxha and later served several other purposes. After its redevelopment, the building became associated with educational, technological, and cultural activities, while its exterior terraces and surrounding public areas form a notable urban landmark.
Mother Teresa Square is a large ceremonial square at the southern end of the central boulevard. It is surrounded by important public buildings, including the University of Tirana, the Polytechnic University, the National Archaeological Museum, and the Palace of Congresses. The square is also a useful starting point for reaching the city’s major museums and parks.
- National Archaeological Museum: presents objects from Albania’s prehistoric, Greek, Roman, and medieval periods, with displays covering the country’s archaeological heritage.
- House of Leaves: a museum in a former building used by Albania’s state security service. Its exhibitions examine surveillance, political persecution, and everyday life under the communist regime.
- Skanderbeg Square: Tirana’s principal central square, bordered by the National History Museum, Et’hem Bey Mosque, the Clock Tower, and other civic buildings. It contains the monument to Skanderbeg, Albania’s national hero.
